The use of various Tywyn venues culminated with the successful move to the present
location in 1980. The premises were originally a
stableblock and have
been skillfully converted to provide delightful facilities for the children.
There are three areas: Quiet Room, Kitchen area and Big Playroom.
There is an outside play area. The public car park is right outside for those
parents requiring parking facilities.
The Playgroup, together with the Parent & Toddler Group which meets once
a week, have sole use of the building.
Most of the children attending the Playgroup are from predominantly English
speaking homes and are learning Welsh as an additional language.
Aims of the playgroup
To encourage parents/carers to understand and provide for the needs of their children.
To provide safe and satisfying group play in which parents/carers have the right
to take part.
Adult Resources
In accordance with the terms of the Children Act 1989, the group is registered
for 24 children per session. We have a ratio of one adult to six children.
The group is fully insured and the certificate is displayed on the noticeboard.

Training
Ongoing training is available through Wales PPA courses, which are open to both
staff and carers. Other training is available through local meetings, conference
and events.
Starting the Group
It is important that parents/carers and staff work together to help children
settle in the group and develop confidence to participate in all the activities
offered. Some children take longer than others to settle. Parents/carers should
not feel worried if this happens. The treatment of each child as an individual
is paramount. Parents/carers may wish to stay for the whole or part of the session
depending on the needs of the child and the discretion of the supervisor. Our
Group is a member of
Wales Pre-school Playgroups Association.
Nursery Report
The Playgroup's first Nursery Education Inspection took place in July 2002 as
part of a national programme of inspections by the
Inspectorate for Education
and Training in Wales (Estyn).
A copy of the Report will be provided to all parents/carers with a child at
the Playgroup.
Management and Administration
In accordance with the Wales PPA group constitution the group is run by an elected
committee who ensure that major decisions are made by the parents/carers who
use the group and in conjunction with the Supervisor and staff.
The committee is responsible for reviewing policies and practice for the employment
and appraisal of the staff. Day to day running of the group is in the hands
of experienced staff.
Our Staff/Committee can be contacted should there be any queries or help needed.
